For the first time since the show's debut in 2002, singer Paula Abdul will not be returning to American Idol as a judge for its ninth season. She Tweets, "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #Idol. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon." Prior to her announcement Tuesday, there was much in the news about Abdul's negotiations with Idol producers. Radar Online reported she was asking for $20 million when Idol was only willing to offer half that amount. A familiar face will be returning, however. Kara DioGuardi, who was added to the judging panel last season, will be coming back to the show. Host Ryan Seacrest also will be returning thanks to his new $45 million contract for three more years, making him the highest paid host on reality TV.
