According to American Idol judge Paula Abdul, the FOX network and American Idol producers were well aware that Paula Goodspeed had stalked her. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Abdul revealed that she had informed them that the girl was a stalker and not to let her audition for the show. However, producers ignored her request and let Goodspeed on the show "for entertainment value."
Goodspeed was found dead in a car near Abdul's home last month due to an apparent suicide.
Abdul, 46, blames FOX for Goodspeed being able to find her home. Goodspeed, with her mother, had followed Abdul home after an audition according to Abdul. She also says that Goodspeed had written her several "disturbing letters" for nearly 18 years and had a restraining order again her.
When asked why she hasn't left the show, Abdul says it's because she is still under contract.
